Chris and I met in the most unexpected way, which makes our story so special. While in Iowa visiting family in March of , my mom, my friend, Erin, and I decided to go out one evening and stumbled into a bar called Rodeo Saloon. Chris travels for work and just so happened to be in Omaha, Nebraska that same weekend, which is just over the state line, and also had the idea to go out, as you can guess Chris purposely bumped into my chair, and I, being annoyed, told him to watch where he was going.
His immediate response was "what's your name"? We got to talking and instantly clicked. We spent the rest of the night together, bar hopping, and eventually staying up all night talking. The next morning, we exchanged numbers, I went back to Kansas City, and Chris stayed in Omaha for a while. Just three weeks after meeting and talking with Chris over the phone, Erin and I went back to spend a weekend with him and his friend in Omaha, exploring the city and getting to know each other more.
A week after that, on his way to West Virginia for his next job, Chris stopped in Kansas City to spend another weekend with me. He asked me to be his girlfriend that weekend and I told him it's too soon. He went back to West Virginia, but our relationship continued to develop through phone calls and FaceTime's every day.
He asked me to be his girlfriend a couple more times over the phone while in West Virginia, until I finally said yes he was very persistent LOL We began seeing each other every chance we'd get, which came with lots of traveling. In May of , Chris came to KC and we drove to Lake of the Ozarks for memorial weekend with my family, which was the first time they really got the chance to know him. Chris told me he wasn't going to make it, but showed up and surprised me; another weekend spent together.
Less than a month later, Chris was back in town to take a roadtrip to St Louis with me and my mom where we got to see a Brother's Osborne concert and a Royals game together. Chris also made it to KC for Halloween and for Christmas that year.
