I did not beat them โ just a light whack on the bottom. It worked. They learned the consequences of disobedience. They learned that if they did wrong there would be consequences that they would feel.
They learned to listen and obey. Now parents send the kids to their room, where they have TVs and games and computers. Where is the punishment? Spanking is the right thing to do if it is kept under control and does not become a beating.
I wonder how many gang members and criminals were spanked and learned the consequences when they were young. I have been a resident of the Santa Clarita Valley for 19 of the last 24 years. I saw firsthand how the unincorporated areas were neglected in both funding and service. In Stevenson Ranch, it is quite apparent that the residents are being shortchanged.
The sales-tax revenue in the Valencia Market Place is huge. Unfortunately, I can make an experienced guess that most of these funds are being spent throughout Los Angeles County instead of paying for services locally. It is time for a change. Stevenson Ranch, Castaic and Westridge residents deserve what they pay for. Why not allow Santa Clarita to annex these neighborhoods? The cost of starting a new city, just for political position and power, would not be in the best interest of anyone.
It would be in the best interest of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the people of Los Angeles if the mayor would stick to doing the job for which he was elected: running the city of Los Angeles.
