The best way to do this is by waking up at every morning and walking the docks. Make sure that you are dressed professionally, are clean-shaven, and have tattoos or piercing covered or removed. Most of all be personable, outgoing, well spoken and friendly.
As you walk by, ask crewmembers if they are hiring. If they are, introduce yourself and hand them a copy of your Curriculum Vitae resume. If not, see if they are in need of a day worker. Doing day work such as painting or polishing jobs is one of the best ways to exhibit your work ethic and build relationships.
