WLBT -Our series on blight points out decay and the not-so-beautiful side of life in our communities. The Jackson Medical Mall Foundation is quietly building a community of new homes just outside their doorstep. In the past 10 years, the foundation built 44 single-family townhomes and 28 new houses along Prosperity Street and North. That was nearly 10 years ago. The foundation, community, and other sponsors built a playground and have regular neighborhood cleanups and community meetings.
He said the plan was for the community to have access to medical care and an opportunity for employees to have a safe area to call home. Some property was donated by the city and state. We clean them up, and we maintain them until we get adequate funding to build a new house there. I came to Jackson in from the Mississippi Delta. I have not been back home since.
