For the past 15 yearsβa good portion of my lifeβI have been spoiled yearly with Puccini, Verdi, and pop music from Elton John to Ronan Keating, all being performed on an open-air stage.
Emmeram, endures. The Regensburg Castle Festival, as it is called, has become quite an event. However, for me, the best part is bringing the family back home: cousins, aunts, brother, sister, friends.
And boy, does it get hectic! Imagine being woken up every morning to an obnoxious crackling through speakers during sound check. This year, I invited a friend, Wendy Yu, who came all the way from China via Rwanda, where she was attending to a charity project. Despite her super jet lag, we had a blast. My mother showed us around and I realized two things: I have not been on a tour since high school, and I have never been taken on a tour by my mother!
