WHSV - Rockingham County Public Schools have implemented additional safety measures at Elkton Elementary School after discovering evidence that suggested the presence of an unauthorized individual Wednesday.
However, an unauthorized individual was never observed on property, officials said. In a statement sent to RCPS families from Caleb Bailey, director of school safety and security, Elkton Elementary School now has additional building locks in the area, all potential entry points were secured and there is increased surveillance on school grounds. Our collective vigilance helps keep our school and Elkton community safe.
Bailey also said it is routine practice to monitor all buildings and that town police and school resource officers have a frequent presence on school property.
