This was an extraordinary discovery! After spending years on the sea bed, the champagne was still intact. A dark environment, a constant temperature of four to six degrees and the pressure at the bottom of the sea created ideal conditions for preserving the bottles after the shipwreck.
Most of the bottles brought up from the bottom of the sea were JUGLAR โ A champagne house that was founded in Chalons in which is no longer in existence. At that time, the Maison judged that the competition on the English market was too great and therefore focused its commercial efforts on Poland, Scandinavia and Russia.
