An alleged 'pimp' and a 'flashy client who lied about working for Channel 4 ' are accused of being involved in child prostitution in Birmingham in the s, a court has heard.
Paul Doyle, aged 64, ran escorting agencies out of a Digbeth taxi base, supplying underage girls to customers after he 'tested them out himself', a jury was told.
While Anthony Bayliss, 74, was one such client who picked up girls from the Hagley Road in his blue Rolls Royce, drove them back to his 'massive' white house in Wolverhampton and had sex with them, the prosecution said. It was also alleged that he purported to work in television as a producer for Channel 4 - which he did not - and liked girls 'young and skinny'.
The case centres around two 'vulnerable' girls who lived in the same children's care home and claimed to have been sexually attacked by both defendants in the late s when they were aged between 14 and Bayliss, of Lichfield Road, Stafford denies two charges of indecent assault against one of the complainants and four counts of rape against the other. Doyle, of Mickleton Avenue, Birmingham, denies indecent assault against the first complainant and a count of living off prostitution in relation to the second.
Opening the case at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday, February 5, prosecutor Jennifer Josephs said: "This is a case about two men who we say each played a part in the sexual abuse of girls who lived in care homes in the late s when they were being pimped out as child prostitutes.
