A former Marietta Middle School boys basketball coach was indicted Wednesday on rape and other sex charges involving four different juveniles, court records show. In addition to the rape charge, Crystal Dawn Burke, 41, faces eight counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The alleged crimes involved four teenage boys and took place between July and November at her home on Woodcrest Lane in Marietta, according to the indictment, which identifies the boys only by initials because they are juveniles.
The juvenile involved in the rape count was not among the victims identified in the unlawful-sexual-misconduct charges in the indictment, which showed five counts involving one juvenile, two counts involving a second juvenile and one count involving a third juvenile. Washington County Prosecuting Attorney Nicole Coil said the boys were members of the team Burke coached but that the alleged incidents did not take place during the basketball season.
