Its inhabitants are called the Gargeois and the Gargeoises. Eurydice, the company in charge of the Audio and visual part of this Fan Zone project, is a company that since 30 years creates, sells and rents all kinds of Audio-Visual event equipment. They accompany their clients in the entire process, from creating the set-up design to the implementation and on-site maintenance. Added to this they wanted to create a vast space with arcade and kids entertainment platforms all over the place to enable everybody to have a good time while watching the games during the entire 2 months.
The goal was to gather people during summer and have the best set-up to display in Live the french TV channels dedicated to sports, on a big LED screen that could be seen by people or more, which was what the city was expecting.
In collaboration with Eurydice we studied the different LED screen options that we have and based on the required specifications, timing and budget we selected a few options. Outdoor LED screens can have different brightness, refresh rate, pixel pitch, protection, etc. The initial idea was to have a screen that would be around 15m2 and based on the number of people that were expected to participate we judged that this was enough.
The product that we ended up choosing is the LRS P3. After studying the feasibility of the custom solution at length with the engineers at Street Communication, the team settled on a solution for an Outdoor LED Wall. The screen needed to be outdoor rated, full CE, light weight, high-brightness and made for rental applications. Second challenge was to design an outdoor truss structure to hold it during 2 months, for the Olympic games and installed high enough so that it could be clearly seen from 50m away and by people or more.
This structure needed to maintain the screen in any kind of wether and stay up even during powerful storms. For these requirements we use a truss that would enable us to suspend the screen starting from 2 meters from the ground to enable a maximum amount of people to see the screen from far away. Eurydice also equipped the LED screen set-up with powerful sound system to completely immerse the visitor in the Paris OG events.
