As the Director of Macon-Bibb County Recreation, I have challenged my staff to be a positive influence in the lives of our community. This includes but is not limited to promoting healthy physical activity at all of our locations and providing healthier snacks for participants.
We are very passionate about nutrition education and encouraging physical activity. The nutrition education component we are adding to our youth programs will ensure that children and their parents are well equipped to prepare and select healthier foods.
We must exercise our due diligence by providing participants with opportunities to access healthier foods, engage in physical activity and making lifestyle changes. Nutrition education and resources that we offer will not only assist us in completing our mission, but will allow us to create and support lifestyle changes for our citizens.
