Cal football recruiting coordinator and wide receiver coach Pierre Ingram has been placed on administrative leave following last week's arrest in a prostitution sting, according to The San Jose Mercury News. A previous article from the newspaper stated that Ingram "was arrested after police said he allegedly solicited an undercover officer online and then showed up April 16 at the Motel 6 on Embarcadero.
Cal athletics released the following statement Monday, announcing that the assistant coach had been placed on administrative leave:. We were first made aware of the situation prior to the spring game. Coach Ingram did not participate in the spring game Saturday and has been placed on administrative leave while the University looks into the matter.
Ingram is in his sixth year under head coach Sonny Dykes and third third season on the Cal coaching staff, but this marks his first year as the wide receiver coach.
Previously, he had worked with the running backs, including last season's stint as the run-game coordinator, according to his official team bio. In the class of , Ingram was the primary recruiter for seven of Cal's commitments, including three of its five four-star pledges, according to Rivals.
Stallworth, which reads, in part:. He has already begun addressing the issues that put him in a place where he would be detained and arrested for the solicitation. We don't know enough about the actual event, because I don't have a report, probably won't get one until the prosecutors have had a chance to take a look at it. As you know, an arrest is different than a charge. It's just an arrest right now. The prosecutors have to take a look at it and determine whether or not there was actually unlawful event.
