Preliminary Intake Interview. If it is your first visit, your therapist will ask some preliminary questions to determine your health and wellness goals. We will talk about your pertinent medical history, lifestyle, stress levels, and any acute conditions you are currently experiencing.
You and your therapist will talk about what results you would like to see in your massage sessions relaxation, pain relief, etc. In the following sessions, you and your therapist will talk about what you liked or didn't like about your previous sessions, and how the bodywork affected you. This will help to further tailor your sessions to your particular likes and needs. The therapist will use the information from your intake form and interview to create a massage treatment plan.
The therapist will briefly describe what their intentions are for the session, and give any instructions you might need regarding starting the session. For instance, they may ask you to begin by laying face down under the top sheet and blanket. Before your massage, the therapist will leave the room while you undress to your level of comfort.
Take off only as much as you are comfortable removing. Lie on the massage table, underneath the provided sheet. You will be modestly covered for the entire session, except for the part of your body being massaged. Soothing music is generally played during a session. If you would prefer not to have music feel free to let your therapist know.
Your comfort is of paramount importance during the massage session. You should feel warm, safe, and able to relax. If there's anything you need to make yourself more comfortable an extra blanket, a glass of water, etc.
