Amongst the measures introduced in the EU to boost energy savings is EPC, providing buildings and owners with an incentive to invest in improving energy efficiency. It will improve the practical implementation of the assessment, issuance, design, and use of EPCs as well as their renovation recommendations. The project will promote dialogue involving stakeholders at all levels.
From 1 September to 31 August X-tendo will support public authorities to transition to next-generation EPC schemes, including improved compliance, reliability, usability, and convergence. The key output of the project will be the X-tendo toolbox, a freely available online knowledge hub that will be continued also beyond the project duration.
It will contain 10 innovative EPC features ranging from a smartness and a comfort indicator to building logbooks and how to improve EPC databases. U-CERT aims to introduce the next generation of user-centred certification schemes to value buildings in a holistic and cost-effective manner. It wants to facilitate the convergence of quality and reliability, under the M mandate developed national annexes standards, enabling a technology-neutral approach that is transparently presented. It encourages the development and application of holistic user-centred innovative solutions, including the smart readiness of buildings.
As well, it supports end-users in decision-making e. U-CERT focuses on strengthening the actual implementation of the EPBD by providing insights from a user perspective and creating a levelled playing field for sharing implementation experience, to all involved stakeholders, facilitated by the EPB-center.
It aims to make use of the most advanced techniques in dynamic and automated simulation modelling, big data analysis and machine learning, inverse modelling or the estimation of potential energy savings and economic viability check, to support the energy transition through the buildings sector.
