What is new, though, is the predominant attitude toward it. Talk to teens in the local mall, or on Web sites such as BuddyPic.
But they want to keep their emotions out of it. In high school, it gets more popular the higher you go up the social ladder. Do you hook up regularly, but without the emotional, long-term commitment of a typical dating relationship? The usual suspects are taking the rap for the widening circle of FWBs: television, music, magazines, the Internet. Sex without commitment is all there, looking very real and very attractive.

Not just guys are checking their emotions at the door; girls are, too. I mean, a lot of girls are. I know girls that are 14 and are sexually active. Other forces, like a strange form of girl power, may be what has leveled the playing field.
Others, though, think it has to do with an aversion to monogamy. She says they like friends with benefits rather than committed relationships because monogamy is a thing of the past.
Relationships are a lot of work, and I think people just got lazy. And then they get out before reality of it sets in: jealousy, nagging, less frequent and passionate sex.
