Two young men in Iraklio, Crete, were given an additional day to prepare their testimony to a judge on Wednesday over a hit-and-run that left a year-old motorcycle rider with a severed leg and his year-old passenger fighting for his life. The incident took place on Monday night, when a car being driven by one of the suspects, aged 19, veered into the opposite lane of Olof Palme Street on the outskirts of Iraklio, smashed into the oncoming motorcycle and then sped off.
The impact was so severe that the motorcycle driver lost his leg. The year-old car driver was identified and arrested the following day.
He was reportedly driving without a license and did not have insurance for his car. His year-old passenger is also being charged for abandoning the victims. The suspects needed a heavy police escort to enter the court, where outraged relatives and friends of the victims were gathered.
