Skokie, a village in my district, is home to the Illinois Holocaust Museum, a 65, square foot facility dedicated to the preservation of history and the education of future generations. Two Holocaust survivors are taking Sierra Vista Public Library patrons on an immersive experience through their Holocaust stories, walking people through their idyllic childhoods in Europe and their experience of starvation and survival in Nazi concentration camps.

In America, many delis were founded by Holocaust survivors. Over the weekend, which marked 79 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, the museum highlighted much of that work.
