Romantic Birthday is an event where players celebrate the birthdays of their confidants. Only players who currently own the confidant being celebrated can participate. The event takes place over three days, beginning two days before the confidant's actual birthday.
The date of each confidant's birth is stated in Gregorian months in the English version of the game, but should actually be read as dates in the Chinese lunar calendar. For instance, Wei Xiaobao's birthday is not on January 25, but on the 25th day of the first month of the Chinese calendar, which in corresponded to March 8th.
The table below contains the predicted upcoming birthday for each confidant according to this translation of dates. Note that all birthday events up until now have aligned with predicted Gregorian dates. The dates shown below are still inofficial, and cannot be guaranteed. In the coloring activity, the player first has to play a minigame to collect flowers and petals, in order to unlock paints of various colors.
These paints can then be used to color a "chibi" version of the confidant. Players can change and save the painting as many times as they like during the event, and can share their painting with server chat after saving. In the birthday quiz, the player has to answer questions about the confidant and their relationship. The answers to the questions can generally be found in the confidant's letters , though occasionally the questions reference events from the main story.
Most confidants have a set of 50 questions from which ten are picked at random, and the player is given three answers to choose from. When all questions have been answered, the player is given an evaluation of how deep their understanding is with their confidant, the highest of which is "Soulmate". The result can be shared with general chat. The preparation tasks consist of a number of gameplay activities, all of which except one relate to the confidant whose birthday is being celebrated.
