On Monday evening, Midland College met with the board of trustees to announce their plan to propose a million-dollar bond for new campus facilities. In December, Midland College called upon the exploratory committee to meet with information about how this potential bond could impact the community.
Discussions between their staff, faculty, students and industry experts started in July of The proposed million dollars would cover a new applied technology complex and health sciences building.
So, if we can get the students in the door, we can get them to a high paying career. These new buildings would be open to more than just Midland College students. The facilities would provide career and technical education programs for everyone. We would have a kind of traditional offering of courses for high school graduates, but we would also do adult education courses and work with our business and industry partners to do proprietary training as they see fit.
The new health sciences building would cost around 43 million dollars, and the acre technology complex would cost million dollars. Midland College wants to make sure that their planning aligns with the values of the broader community.
