Classes are offered morning, afternoon and evening and include up to seven English proficiency levels, all with classroom and computer instruction. Citizen preparation classes as well as one-on-one tutoring for the naturalization interview are also offered. All classes are free of charge; both volunteers and students are asked to make a small contribution to cover the cost of their books.
We offer Early Childhood Education programming for children 4 months β 5 years while their parent or guardian is simultaneously enrolled in the Adult English Literacy Program. The Early Childhood Education Program provides a child-centered, literacy-rich environment for young children, designed to meet the unique needs of English Language Learners.
We believe children learn most effectively when they are actively engaged in projects that are meaningful and relatable to their own lives. Through play, children nurture relationships with themselves and others. Our Early Childhood Program uses the Emergent curriculum. This teaching approach is a technique designed for a child, or group of children, based on their skills, interests, and needs.
Additional Resources. In addition to communication skills, students must also have confidence and cultural knowledge to access and navigate community resources in order to achieve personal goals. Dedicated staff provide individualized student assistance for referrals to community resources and coordinate enrichment programs and presentations led by community partners on topics such as legal and financial resources, nutrition, family engagement, and health resources.
