Duluth Folk School teaches a class in which students will learn how to and make a four braid t-shirt rug. Students should bring two to four different colored t-shirts not too stretchy, and not with large silk-screened areas , scissors or rotary cutter, mat and quilting ruler , a sewing needle and thread.
This class is best for ages 13 and older and students must register. In this soapmaking class, each participant makes a two-pound batch of soap about eight bars using the cold process method. Participants learn a brief history and basic chemistry of soapmaking, safety considerations when working with lye, accurate measurements and proper mixing temperatures, how to color soap naturally with herbs, spices and clays and more.

It also includes a classroom, meeting space and offices.
The exhibit hall includes a play area for young children, maps to orient visitors to the largest estuary on Lake Superior and information to help anyone explore. An estuarium is gathering place for learning and play. The 58th annual Fisharama fishing tournament on Amnicon Lake, organized by the Tri Lakes Community Center in the town of Summit, offers cash prizes for the longest live fish in three categories.
