Hello, Benny here From visits many years ago I remember quite a lot more upmarket establishments in the Ville Nouvelle Gueliz but they were expensive, and greedy waiters were always hovering around trying to hustle extortionate tips. For the best in lowlife but fascinating Moroccan drinking dens, I recommend the old French Quarter in Casablanca, it's an alcoholic's paradise!

A man can be cleansed by simply stepping into the hotel room's ensuite bathroom shower, thereby avoiding all sorts of rip off prices in a Hammam, I have never been to one but have heard bad vibes reliable bar room informants about menu charging, even the bloke who brings the towels demanding a hefty tip etc etc.
But you sound like the well-heeled adventurous type, so get in there, find out, and maybe write up a review here when you get home, it could be interesting reading! Oh, and Les Bains de Marrakech is probably the best up market hammam. If you are looking for a less professional 'service', try the establishments on or near the avenue de Prince. The famous Djemma el Fna square is only a short five minute walk from the front door of the Grand Tazi, emerge and turn right down the pedestrian-only street.
I'm not familiar with Comptoir Darna, but the name itself would suggest something like a cash register designed to empty your fat wallet with the minimum of effort, if I remember correctly most of the upmarket nightclubs are located along Boulevard Mohammed V, I think you are looking for the belly dancers.. You can get more accurate information from your hotel receptionist, they always know the places tourists want to visit and might have some brochures, and can definitely find you an official guide, why not ask for a female guide, explaining to the receptionist that you have previously found them to be less authoritative and grasping in the tips department than the male guides?
