The Tallahassee Police Department have arrested two suspects in connection to a Tuesday morning homicide in west Tallahassee. Thailin Williams, 17, and Deshan Jones, 19, have both been charged with first-degree murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle. Through their investigation, detectives from the violent crimes unit found that at approximately a. After exiting the vehicle, the two proceed to shoot the victim "without any apparent precipitating altercation or provocation" before Williams and Jones fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.
At approximately a. Jones, who had been driving the car, fled the traffic stop and crashed the vehicle near the Jefferson County Courthouse before they fled the scene of the crash on foot.
The homicide is one of two that TPD is investigating since the new year began. The arrests continue a streak of quick murder arrests following homicides. Of the 18 murders TPD investigated last year, only one was not been closed by arrest, showing a strong clearance rate compared to years before.
A TPD spokesperson was not available to provide the identity or age of the victim. Court documents were also unavailable for the suspects.
