Most of those still there will be posted to Bielefeld and surrounding areas in April-June, which is also likely to close by As for myself, I retired to UK some 15 months ago and at that time there were only a couple of occupied houses in my road, Plymouth Way.
It is now empty and overgrown and there is apparently a family of deer jumping from garden to garden. I was sadly unable to attend the SIB closure function, but have heard unconfirmed that there will be a JHQ closure ceremony in July and that this will include a "Party in the Park", parade, church parade and various school open days. Pse beware, I have not yet received confirmation of this and, personally, find it a little far-fetched considering there may be few left to make the arrangements.
However, at some stage this year, Ulrike and I will be returning to take a few nostalgic snaps and would be happy to take any of your old MQs, schools etc, should you wish us to do so. Anyway, I went with my youngest son, who is now 24, and was a former pupil at the St Georges School. He was one of the original members of the Rheindahlen Youth Football Club which was formed in He was quite gutted to see his old clubhouse and football pitch, down by the bowling alley, in ruin and the school closed down and overgrown.
