Due to the need and extraordinary cost to convert to digital and challenges getting first run films, we closed Burlington and Mississauga and focused on the Oakville theatre. We changed our name to Film. Ca Cinemas in as part of a new marketing plan and to lose the name Encore, which was more associated with older films and not first run. In a previous career Knoll had worked extensively in the theatre industry and, after this experience, he decided that it was time to get back into the business and develop an affordable alternative to the spiraling cost of movie-going.
The goal was to establish cinemas where families could go to the movies without going broke. The result was Encore Cinemas, now film. We always have something to look forward to at our Film.
